Marie-Anne Knowles studied art in Mauritius where she was born. After pursuing a career in nursing in the U.K. Marie-Anne was inspired to return to oil painting, her first love. Marie-Anne worked from her own gallery in Glastonbury, building up a following and selling paintings over a period of years. Buyers include local patrons but some paintings have been sold as far afield as Antigua. Subject matter has varied from still life and landscapes to studies of animals and people. More recently Marie-Anne has been broadening her artistic interests into the field bronze sculptures, especially ballet dancers. Some of Marie-Anne’s work has been exhibited at the open craft exhibition of the Somerset Guild of Craftsmen, where she recieved 1st prize.
